Kiahuna Beach

Being one of Kauai’s most popular beaches and tourist destinations, Kiahhuna Beach is enjoyed by all. With its crescent shaped beach running from the Sheraton Kauai Resort to Marriott’s Waioai Beach Club in Poipu, it’s a beach enjoyed by sunbathers of all kinds. If you like sun, this is the place to be because there is no shade. One might think to bring the beach umbrella to escape from the sun for a bit. For those of you who want to enjoy a Hawaiian sunset, unfortunately Kiahuna Beach is not the place to be because the Sheraton Resort will block most of the view to your west. With an offshore reef that protects the beach from most wave action, Kiahuna Beach is a great spot for swimming and snorkeling but please keep in mind that there is no lifeguard on duty here. Kiahuna Beach’s south shore is a preferred location for those wanting to learn how to surf with its mostly sandy bottom and small surf. You can take more advanced surf lessons further out beyond the reef where the waves tend to be a bit bigger.

Parking is very limited for Kiahuna Beach goers unless you are a guest at one of the resorts. Just past the Sheraton resort off of Poipu Beach Road, there is a small public lot where restroom facilities are located. There is more parking available at Poipu Beach which is only a short walk away from Kiahuna Beach. Both Kiahuna Beach and Poipu Beach are only separated by a rocky point. Many like to consider Kiahuna Beach just an extension of Poipu Beach, where you can enjoy a nice Hawaiian sunset. You will find in front of the Marriott’s Waiohai Beach club that there is a walkway that connects the two beaches. Many condos and major hotels sit on both ends of Kiahuna Beach, making this area one of Kauai’s most popular tourist destinations. There is something to be enjoyed by everyone here.
