Once a destination for Hawaiian royalty, Kihei is a beachcomber’s paradise. Located on Maui’s southwest shore, it is the driest and sunniest end of the island. Kihei has six miles of beaches offering clear views of Molokini, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and West Maui. There is great swimming and surfing at Kihei, along with kayaking and snorkeling. Kalama Beach Park on Kiehei is a beautiful park with shady laws and palm trees aligned all along the 36-oceanfront acres. You can find Kealia Pond on the north end of Kilhei, a popular spot among birdwatchers and nature lovers.
Just north of Kihei is Maalaea Bay. Pleasure boats launch from here to take visitors on whale watching trips, snorkel trips to Molokini, and charter fishing expeditions. Maalaea Bay is hom to Maui Ocean Center, a family friendly place for people of all ages to have fun and explore.
Kihei has a variety of affordable places to stay. Choose from a small hotel, or a condominium. There are even cottages that are along Kiehei’s beach road for you to stay in. Go shopping at the bustling farmers market or browse the small shopping malls. There are a variety of restaurants, all of them catering to each individuals needs and wants. For the nightlife crowd, there are abundance of dance clubs, sports bars, and karaoke spots ensuring that you will have a fun night in Kihei.
