Known as “Big Beach”, Makena Beach is one of Maui’s best. Located on Maui’s southwestern shore, Makena Beach is one of the largest beaches in Maui. The golden sands extend nearly two-thirds of a mile long and a hundred yards wide. Beach goers can snorkel and/or swim in water, have a picnic in the shade, or simply relax while sunbathing under the Hawaiian sun.
Makena Beach provides a nice secluded alternative to the more crowded beaches that are close by. Makena is nestled in between two black lava outcroppings, offering protection from the trade winds. Makena has great views of the islands of Kahoolawe and Molokini.
Makena Beach in Maui is a great family spot. With picnic facilities and restrooms being available. This beach is family friendly, and a great spot to visit when vacationing in Hawaii.
