Best Views on Oahu

Did you know that the island of Oahu features some of the most popular activities and destinations in all of Hawaii? Sites like Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, iconic beaches, and Waikiki Beach are all found on Oahu, and are all reasons why the island is the most visited of all of the Hawaiian Islands. Even with all of the great destinations to visit, Oahu still features some of the most famous views of the island that have been featured in pictures, screen savers, and calendars for many years.

The incredible views from the lookout points found around the island show off its incredible beauty and allow for panoramic views and great pictures. So, where can you find the best views on Oahu?

Diamond Head is one of the most common places to take in great views of the island. An easy hike to the lookout point at the top shows two very different views of Oahu. Looking south, the island’s coastline takes shape, showing off the beaches and towns along the South Shore. Looking north, the city streets take shape, looking over Waikiki Beach, and into Honolulu. Views facing east and west could not be more different: to the west is nothing but ocean, and the east shows off the mountains and valleys of the island.

Makapu’u Lookout is found along the South Shore and provides stunning views of the Waimanalo Beach, Rabbit Island, Makapu’u Beach, and the endless Pacific Ocean.

Overlooking Windward Oahu is the Nu’uanu Pali Lookout, the site of one of the most famous battles in Hawaiian history and the spot on the island where the winds can knock you over. Found along the Pali Highway that connects Honolulu with the Windward Coast, visitors can see Kailua, Kaneohe, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, and offshore island Chinaman’s Hat.

Koko Head Crater is another hike that offers great views of the island, and from this high vantage point, a large portion of the island’s west and south shores are visible.

On the North Shore, the view overlooking Waimea Bay has been featured in guidebooks and photo galleries for years, and is quite easy to find. The blue waters, white sand, and lush countryside makes for the perfect picture, and if the waves are up, there may not be a better view to represent Oahu.
