There are so many different amazing natural surroundings that you can travel to on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. This island, although not as unpopulated as the other islands, still has many secret spots to escape from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. Nearly a half an hour to an hours drive puts you at scenic destinations. I recommend taking a car versus the bus as time is definitely precious. Yet you’re looking for nature spots to see, so you’ve come to the right article.

Beaches and sheer cliffs can be photographed on the east side of the island. A popular destination is the Halona Blowhole and Sandy’s Beach. Many don’t know that if you hike to either side, you’ll come across some pretty untapped spots. Plus what better way to get back into nature than a good ole fashioned hike. Trails like Manoa Falls can link up to a whole trail system into the mountains and rainforests behind Honolulu. Also the Maunawili trail system hooks up to several coming down or going up the mountains. There are tons of waterfalls to see while exploring. Be careful when you go out though, let someone know your destination and expected time to return.

The North Shore around Haleiwa, though regularly getting popular from many visiting tourists, has beach accesses in multiple neighborhoods. There are no private beaches here in Hawaii. All beaches are open to the public, its one of the great laws we have here. The West Side is another untapped treasure of nature scenes. Valleys waiting to be trekked and coves waiting to be snorkeled. However, be careful with your belongings as Hawaii tends to be one of the highest state’s with petty crimes such as theft.
