Rainbow Helicopters - Kohala Coast Volcanoes
Waterfalls
Taking off from the Kona airport, you'll fly over sparkling
Kailua Bay, known for its crystal clear waters and vibrant reefs.
Then enjoy spectacular aerial views of the world's largest active
volcano, Mauna Loa. The flight continues to the remarkable features of
Kaupulehu Crater and Hualalai Volcano. Off in the distance, the summit
of Mauna Kea towers 13,796 feet above sea level.
Mauna Keas older brother, Kohala, is to the north, and out of its
stark landscape emerges the Puu Waawaa Forest Reserve, home to native
plants and animals found nowhere else in the world. Passing over the
forest reveals the beautiful Kawaihae and Kohala coasts.
The lush Pololu and Waimanu valleys enclose the cascading
waters of the Laupahoehoe Nui and Waiilikahi waterfalls. After circling
Waipio Valley and its black sand beach, the flight follows the trail
of waterfalls along the coast back to Anaehoomalu Bay, the turquoise
waters of Kiholo Bay and the secluded beauty of Makalawena
Beach.
