Hawaii is one of the most sought after filming locations because the islands are so versatile. The landscapes are beautiful and there is near perfect weather year round plus if film makers need variety Hawaii is home to 11 out of the 13 climate zones.
The lists of movies that have been filmed on Hawaii seem endless. There have been over a hundred movies and television shows filmed in the last hundred years and have even been filmed on multiple islands. Some of the television shows to film on the islands include Hawaii 5-0, Lost and Gilligan’s Island, just to name a few. Below is a list of some of our favorite movies and where to go to see the scenes of where they were filmed. Unfortunately the list of films is so extensive we could not simply list them all.
You are welcome to visit these locations on your own however please be mindful and respectful of any private property and no trespassing signs. Some locations may not be accessible by car or foot and is best to plan out your day in advance of the locations you most want to visit. If you prefer to see some of these locations both Kauai and Oahu offers movies tours which can be purchased at a discounted rate with Hawaii Discount.
